The blocking of your skin pores by dead cells leads to the outbreak of acne . This result in the build up of oils produced by the sebaceous glands (these are found under your skin); a perfect environment for skin bacteria to multiply uncontrollably.
As the oil accumulates under your skin it becomes inflamed and produces a visible pimple on your skin . The areas of your skin chest, face, back, shoulders and upper arms are at most risk of acne breakout .
Acne produces some visible scars but it’s the emotional scars which are the most damaging such as depression, low self-esteem and even suicide . Acne usually strikes during adolescence and is more prominent in the western society. The male hormone testosterone has some part to play .
As time progresses acne tends to disappear or decrease by the time you reach your early twenties. There is no time frame for acne vulgaris to disappear entirely and some people even suffer from acne decades later, into their thirties and forties and maybe longer. Getting acne vulgaris in your later years is not common but the development of rosacea which may have a similar appearance is. If you do suffer from adult acne this may be due to underlying condition such as pregnancy or disorder. Menopause is another cause for acne as reported by dermatologists .
